Magazine advert conventions
From looking at this research i have found that the main image of the text is often the album artwork, this is to successfully promote the album by showing is physical form. This is also done by following a simple colour scheme to fit the theme of the album.
Another convention I found was the size and position of the band's name. This is to catch the eye of the magazine reader, who may or may not be a fan, and to make them read the advert. The reinforcement of the release date makes them aware that this is an upcoming release which might persuade them to buy it when it comes out.
A convention I found, which I will include in my ancillary text, is the use of a review, quote or rating. This will be used to impress the reader which will create hype for the album; especially if it is from a powerful music outlet, like Kerrang!, which they trust.
One feature I found interesting was the introduction of the QR code. This will mostly appeal to a younger, modern audience that heavily use web 2.0 and social media. This will allow the album to be further advertised through the medium of the Internet thus spreading it to a larger audience.
Also, using the convention of featuring the lead single will promote the album/artist to an audience who are aware of the single but not the artist.
